Argh! Ahoy mates, welcome onto the Dennis Hernandez float for Special Needs Kids! This year’s Children’s Gasparilla was another hit as we boarded the last float (a good story needs a great ending, so best for last!) and danced along to DJ Ka$h Money’s tunes as we threw out beads to all the excited children. Seeing the joy on the faces of the kids in the crowd and their parents put a smile on my face as well. The highlight of the experience though, was knowing that the special needs kid on my float were enjoying themselves. Seeing them at the front of the float, overlooking the crowd and throwing beads; I know it was an experience that they and their parents will never forget and that was what I was aiming for when I decided to have a float dedicated to them.
